Research in the Barycz Valley

Existing research demonstrates the scientific potential of the region. Studies in the Milicz Ponds Reserve have recorded hundreds of vascular plant taxa, including rare and threatened aquatic and wetland species. Research conducted in Krośnice and neighbouring reserves has documented a diverse community of true bugs, including rarely recorded species. Long-term studies have also examined waterbird populations, reed-dwelling birds, wetland vegetation, invasive plants, spiders, reptiles, ticks and the ecological consequences of changes in water conditions.

Biodiversity research

Biodiversity research is not only about identifying species. It also examines how populations, habitats and ecological processes change over time—and how human decisions can either accelerate nature loss or support recovery. At the Barycz Valley Biodiversity Campus, global scientific evidence provides the context for local field research, while the wetlands, forests, meadows and fishponds of the Barycz Valley create an exceptional living laboratory.
